About Awesome Arts

Program
2010/2011 marks One World Arts’ third annual Awesome Arts program and festival in Ottawa. This year, we are pleased that our community partner was the Lowertown Community Resource Centre.

This year’s One World Awesome Arts program and festival is oriented around global issues and brings arts-based workshops to children and youth. Numerous local artists and instructors were carefully selected to provide dynamic workshops in various areas. Find out more by visiting our Workshops page!

This year we are pleased that more than 70 children and youth participaed in the One World Awesome Arts program and festival, ranging from 6 to 21 years of age.

Festival!
May 27 & 28, 2011

On May 27 at the York Street Public School, One World Awesome Arts held an event featuring performances by the children and youth of Ottawa's Lowertown neighbourhood. A number of Ottawa-based professional artists such as 201 World Slam poet champion Ian Keteku and Internationally-reknowned beatboxer Julia Dales performed.

In addition, One World Awesome Arts was proud to be involved with the Lowertown Celebration Festival that took place on May 28th in Jules Morin Park. One World Awesome Arts was pleased to provide Hip Hop Dance and Slam Poetry performances and workshops, face-painting, and airbrush tattoos. As well, the children and youth got to try their hand at stilt walking, graffiti and even created cool environmental robots/sculptures with Tick Tock Tom
